"Out, out, brief candle!
Life's but a walking shadow; a poor player,
That struts and frets his hour upon the stage,
And then is heard no more: it is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing." (William Shakespeare)

When your candle has burned out, will your life have had some significance?

I would like to think it will have some signficance. I raised three children and if they raise children who raise children, I will be a link in a chain. They are my legacy to the world. Plus, I would like to think that I contributed by letting the light from my candle take away some of the darkness for someone who was momentarily without their own candle. As the saying goes...pay it forward!

Nope, my life won't have meaning. I think that is the point of Macbeth's soliloquy. I'd say I am more the poor player than the idiot's tale. I make a lot of sense but I'm afraid of everything. I think Macbeth was just in a bad mood. His wife was nasty and her life certainly didn't mean much to him.

my life already has significance ..... from the day I was born until the time I die. The lives I have touched for good or bad will dictate if I was a good person or not .... Have faith, and he will lead you to heaven ........

I would like to think so. I've tried to be a good person, but it remains to be seen if I've made a difference or not. What about you?
