If you just bought it or it was recently re-set, then it has the factory setting and that includes user id and password. That varies for each manufacture and product but can be readily found on the user's manual. In case you've lost yours, you can download it from the manufacturer's site. In additions to D-link and Linksys's default settings (in the above answers) Planet uses user id: admin and password: 1234.

Your ISP neither knows nor cares.

You need to read the docs for your router. Some come with a booklet and others load a PDF file on a CD bundled with it. If you don't have either, go to the manufacturer's website and download a copy there.

Your ISP won't know, or care. You need the maual for your router, some have a default of user: admin pass: 11111111 or just 1111 if it has never been changed. If you don't have the manual, search the site of who made it with your model number for a manual and find the default user name and pass, or even e-mail and ask them with your model number.

If you had saved your router's documentation it should tell you the default username and password to use. For example, mine is "Admin" and "Password". Yours might be that too.
