Isn't the word cr*ck*r offensive? Why doesn't Y! Answers censor this word? Is it because it is also a type of snack food? what about the slang form cr@cka? wouldn't that be offensive too?

I get offended when someone calls me that. I don't use the N word so I expect people to be nice and not call me that word. I think it should be censored but since it is a type of food they can't censor it.

It depends on who you ask. I could care less if you called me a "cracker" because to me that word is a snack food. It doesn't hold any emotional power over me, despite knowing what it's intended use is. "N!gger" is another one of those words, and is given too much power by most that use it.

There is actually a book of the same title, and is quite interesting to read. I think more people in general should read it in order to understand the background of the word.

I personally laugh my @ss off when I hear Chris Rock talk about "them crazy crackas!" Man, you gotta laugh at yourself sometimes.

No I use it ALL the time!!! I live in the South where people think the N word is appropriate to use - so I respond with "well aren't you just a cracker @ss cracker redneck!" they don't know what to say - one day if I never return it's because I have been shot by Bubba and his cracker @ss crew!

I don't think cracker was ever an offensive term. It's not derogatory or slanderous. The term cracker came from times of slavery when the slavemasters would CRACK the whip on the slaves, thus making them whip crackers.

white boy is as offensive to whites as ****** to blacks.. the diff is that its ok to use derog terms against whites and they just have to take it. if they dont then they are thin skinned and uptight.. i heard a tv commentator the other night asking if it was ok for arnold swarzzenegger to call a member on his staff black? that is taking this **** a little too far. white people are walking on eggshells around minorities with everything they say but blacks can have tv shows and blatenly use terms like honky, whiteboy, jonnson, etc. look ill prove it when im done lets see if the sensor blocks out any white terms deemed offensive or not? i bet the terms for blacks are blocked out but the ones for whites arent...

I've never thought that white people were really that offended by that word. It seems to be a weak answer to the n word which is now okay too i guess if you drop the r.
