i dont think i have ever heard of anyone saying the remake was better than the original.i think it a shame that such a cult film like the wicker man that was made in Britain is being messed about by Hollywood and i think it will lose a lot of it charm for special effects

The Wicker Man - a pointless remake (well, other than making money)

I can't think of any films that need a remake. Like I can't see the point in remixes of songs.

Re: the previous answer of "The Birds". Do you really think some new special effects will make a better film than Alfred Hitchcock could do?

I would like to see Metropolis (Fritz Lang, 1927) remade. At the time it broke records for the amount of money spent on a single movie to produce it. The advances in digital technology, CGI, etc since it was made would make it an interesting film to re-produce. It would likely be extremely, if not collosally expensive to re-film and for that reason would be kinda fun for a studio to take on. There have been several re-issues of the original, in various formats, even a digital restoration of the original print. However, as far as I'm aware, nobody has ever re-made it (I doubt that it could be improved upon). It would be a very great challenge to re-film and to bring to a new audience a silent movie and therefore would require a substantial re-write - dialogue for one thing! So, I'd like to see it re-worked and re-interpreted for a new generation. It would be an amazing challenge to undertake.

Some classic films are best left alone - I never really enjoy remakes of films I love and sometimes the simplicity of an old film makes it better - I could never imagin anyone else playing the part of Scarlett O'Hara in Gone with the wind or anyone else playing Michael Corleone in the Godfather -

I would love to see either a proper sequel to Pretty Woman and Runaway Bride and not just say that Runaway Bride was the sequel to Pretty Woman becoz it wasn't as there were different characters and different plots etc.......

and Susie q there is a remake of the Amityville Horror. The original Amityville Horror was made in 1979 and the remake was out in 2005.

"The Mouse that Roared"! It's about a fictional country that's the smallest in the world. It has an army of 20 longbowmen, and it goes to war with the USA and wins. Classic political satire!
