This reminds me of something someone told me once when I asked her if she thought that abortion should be legal: "I don't believe in abortions". What a silly way to answer a question, because abortion will ALWAYS exist. It's not the tooth-fairy or Santa. Whether we make it legal and protect the lives of the teenage mothers, or abused wifes, or make it illegal and force women to extream measures to remove a fetus. Is abortion right? That is an ethical question where each person has a very different opinion. Would I personally ever get an abortion? No, never. Would I stop someone else from getting one? It's none of my business. If we make it illegal, women will start shoving metal hangers up their uterus. I heard a story about a young lady who was 16 years old and got pregnant in the early 1960s. When she discovered that she was pregnant, she told her mother. Her mother was so infuriated with her that she told her to terminate the pregnancy. Back then, abortions were illegal, so the mother poured ammonia and draino down her daugher's vagina. Did this cause the fetus to be aborted? Yes. But the 16 year old died too.

personally, I think abortions should be illegal abortions isn't right it's against the law to murder somebody well when a person gets an abortion it's murder just as well cause it is a life it isn't any different the person you kill has life well the fetus that someone is killing has a life too I think their is never a acception to abortion I feel if a woman gets raped and she doesn't want the child she shouldn't abord it but if she is set to not wanting that child then she should atleast let somebody adopt it and give that baby a chance of life babies don't ask to be born as well as women don't ask to be raped but they should see it isn't the baby's fault either and see they should give it a chance of life instead of killing it abording will not fix the problem if you've been raped cause you will always remember the rape some people believe the baby will be a reminder well even without the baby a person will remember the rape and if a woman gets pregnant and she didn't want children or she's young and doesn't want that child to interfere it's her problem and not the babie's some women in this world don't have any kind of protection against pregnancy then when it does happen they want a abortion same token for a teenager sometimes the girl doesn't want her life on hold so she gets rid of the baby well if someone doesn't want a child my advice is have protection if people know they don't want children because that's what they choose that's fine or if a teenager decides to become sexual active she should be protected against pregnancy if a teenager girl gets pregnant she knew better to have protection theirfore due to her mistake a poor innocent baby should not suffer her consequences I pray one day abortions becomes illegal and that people go to jail for murder

WOW! You really wanna get something started don't you?

I am a Christian and have had the same view since I was 17.
Pro-Life or Pro-Choice. I read an article as a teenager about a fellow teenager who died in a botched back alley abortion. Becky Bell was her name. I decided at that time that Becky would not have died if she had gone to a legal clinic to get her procedure done. I hate abortion and the killing of innocent babies. I would never have an abortion and as a Christian it is not my place to judge woman who do. I believe a woman should have a choice to do with her own body what she chooses. Becky's story is a clear indication that woman will do exactly what they have chosen.

I strongly disagree with the tactics of my fellow Christians who display grotesque photos of aborted fetuses. It is violating and harassing. Many Christians have been carried off by police and arrested in front of these clinics, bombings, and shootings. Does this make them any different from the woman who are aborting babies?

This is a tough forum. My husband and I were discussing it ?Monday as the show 30 Days was about a ministry in CA helping mothers so they don't have to abort. I think folks hear the term Pro-Choice and automatically relate the term to Pro-Death.I think that is a closed minded way to believe. My husband suggested that I say I am Pro-Life but say that I think woman should choose. I would much rather challenge people by saying I am Pro-Choice and explain exactly what I mean. The truth is, we need more discussion about this topic. More education and solutions! Less anger and fighting! Let's discuss what abortion has done to the birth rate in out nation and the effect it will have on social security.

It has been proven that not even 1% of women get pregnant through a rape. There are only about 48 hours in one month that a woman can get pregnant! Anyways, I don't think the question of abortion should be ...is it illegal...i think the question should be....Am I responsible enough to use protection while having sex...If not, then i shouldn't be having sex, and so therefore abortion wouldn't need to be an option. If you are responsible enough to have sex then you should be responsible enough to take care of the child you bring into this world. it all boils down to responsibility, not legality. If each person would recognize that in this day and age there is no excuse for lack of protection, then we wouldn't have to be having abortions. Abortion is big business and makes doctors alot of money. I think that doctors who give abortions do it for all the money they make and so are at the forefront of legalizing it. A procedure takes 5 minutes and costs alot of money to the State, and to people who have them. So, when it comes down to it, if you can't be responsible for bringing a child into the world you shouldn't be having sex.

Abortion should be totally legal. A woman has the right to make decisions regarding her body and activist politicians and other do-gooders should understand this and MTOFB. I wish the fanatic anti-choice crowd could be logical and pragmatic for just a moment and consider this: laws banning abortion are discriminatory. When it's legal, everyone has access to the procedure in a safe and clean environment. When it's illegal, only the wealthy or the "connected" have this access. Poor women do not and some of them die. It's that simple. Laws banning abortion only stop the less fortunate from having them.
It's too bad that religious fanatics consider pregnancy as a "punishment" for having sex. It really does cloud their judgement.

This subject always gets me. Don't kill a fetus that really doesn't understand or have lived. YET, kill 18 year old soldiers for no cause whatsoever. Starve a kid newborn to 16 because some don't believe in government assistance. Go for death sentence for crimes committed (this I don't have a problem with IF they took a life and there was no doubt about it from any juror). Come on pro-lifers, you don't have the right to say who gets born and who doesn't or who lives and who dies. Let God be the judge of that. Are you saying God is wrong because he chooses to take a soul in that manner? Isn't God the one who determines when we die? If a woman gets an abortion, God will judge her--NOT YOU. How about brushing up on your kindly Christian morals and try to help some of these poor souls. If you don't want a baby aborted, then you should offer to take one or two and that would solve the problem. Now that would be the ultimate sacrifice for a good Christian, don't you think?

okay well no! And here's my explaination of why.I really don't support abortion because I think that it is murder but here's my statement on the matter. I think that abortion should be a last resort such as it is killing the mother or the baby won't survive anyways when the mother gives birth. I also believe that abortion should also be allowed in cases of rape and incest since it is always not the mother's choice to have sex but she is forced into it. But on the same hand I don't think the government has the right to butt in at all. Yes abortion is wrong but government wants to outlaw it because the Catholics and religons like that are saying it should be did away with. I say **** the Catholics and all these religions since they always don't have a clue what the **** they are talking about. Even though I think abortion is wrong on so many levels I believe that it is the woman's choice to have an abortion and her freedom to do so. You can't tell the mother of the child that she can't have an abortion because for one you have no clue how your situation is and why she has come to the decision of this and for two because she has been given the freedom to choose and she may have no other choice. People are always saying that you always have other choices in this matter but what the **** do they know they have never been in this situation. For example a friend of mine by the name of Stephanie had to receive an abortion because her baby was killing and it was dead and she could have died. So she had no other choice because it was either her life or death. But these religious ***** just love their one sided ideas and beliefs.

But let's take a look at their world on this matter for a second. Okay they would force women to have babies even though it may kill them or they were forced to have sex in cases of incest and rape. Plus do you really think that would stop women from chosing the right to abort the fetus. No instead you would have women perform abortions by sticking a coat hanger up there stuff not only perhaps screwing their insides up but perhaps killing themselves. We need the choice there so people know they don't have to hide and make a mistake they may regret or a choice that may kill them. So you ***** shut the **** you abortion may be wrong but last time I checked women do have rights and one right is the choice to abort the fetus or not. You've got no right because you aren't her and have no clue what she has been through!

The truth is, no one should ever tell a woman what she should or should not be able to do with her body. The problem with that is, some women use abortion as a means of birth control. They are irresponsible and don't have concern for the consequences of being reckless. I believe if a woman is raped, or the victim of incest, she shouldn't have to live with the product of that emotional trauma. As far as the latter, abortion shouldn't be illegal but definitely regulated to prevent people from abusing the privilege.

Abortion should be a choice that every woman should be able to make, and her decision is between no one else but her and God. He's the judge, not us. Abortion as a method of birth control because you're stupid and don't use contraception should not be allowed. Abortion because of incest or rape or honest contraceptive failure without the ability to carry the baby to term or finacially support a child should be a decision that the woman, and only the woman, is allowed to make. And it's not like any man will ever have to make that decision, so I don't know why they even feel the need to tell us if they think it is wrong or right.
