I am thinking of entering this field and I am wondering if this is a good move for someone who already has a Master 's Degree.

I know it can be lucrative after a while and especially if I get enough experience to do some jobs on my own (e.g. flipping). However, statring out on a "commission only" basis is difficult.

What is the best area to enter in that will make use of my qualifications?

Are there salaried positions/ jobs for begginers and is it worth it to make this move now?

Also, can anyone tell me of their personal experience as begginer, i.e. before they became successful?

there is A LOT to know in real estate....you have to know that you will probably not have a lot of success in the first 6 months because it is the learning period and you are establishing yourself in the business....i started as a receptionist at an office, and believe me, you pick up a lot just listening...i finally took the classes and passed the test and have my license, but i don't have the lifestyle that lets me live without an income for months at a time....my mother has been very successful, but my father also works, so they are able to support each other when times are tough....you also have to have a thick skin - buying a house brings out the best and worst in people because it is one of the biggest things you do in life...you really have to be a people person and want to help people achieve this goal...good luck!

you also have to be willing to be on call almost 24/7....my mother almost NEVER shuts her cell phone off and rarely takes a vacation without having a few hours every few days where she has to work, but she does very well

there are also a lot of fees involved...dues, licensing fees, etc, so you have to be ready for that

If you want to get into Real Estate, it will take years before you make good money. You have a masters, why not enter that field?

Real Estate is lucrative, but you have to constantly search for clients....it's not like having a job, where you go and do your work. Every day, you are unemployed until you get clients.

There are a ton of Real Estate agents right now, so it will be even harder than it was a few years ago.

i went to real estate school. its fast and easy. they dont teach you anything. they just talk and talk and you write notes and listen and if you learn something then great but if not then to bad. the school exams are easy. the state exams are crazy hard. for me. i hated the state exams so much i stopped trying. i know it was sad of me to stop. but oh well. i never liked real estate anyways. i only wanted to get into it for the money. but if you dont have to passion then there is no point in doing it. so i stopped going. but you never know, i might go back when im older and wiser.
as for you, you sound like a very mature person . how old are you? well it doesnt matter. im sure your old enough if you have a masters. good for you. its always great to take the school and keep real estate on the side as a part time job. you dont always have to sell if you dont want to. have fun with it and enjoy the beautiful homes. sell, sell, sell. its not all about location location location. its about client client client. its all about them. what they want and where they want it and how much they can aford. so listen to them. have fun.
