Actually Bush Sr. used the word liberal in the 1988 election to describe Dukakis. It has been used as a bad label for a long time by the right.

I would take it as a compliment to be labeled as a liberal or a bush-basher.
I would be embarassed to be thought of as a republican or somebody who supports bush in anything. He is a disgrace to the office of the presidency.
All he has really accomplished in 8 years is to help keep the grass really green at the military cemetaries, and to make canada look really good compared to us. I love america, I really do. But I am ashamed that other people who live here actually voted for that imbecile twice. I could understand making a bad mistake once. But twice?! He was certainly not the lesser of two evils.
I hope in november somebody runs for office that is worthy of it. Somebody america can be proud of again.

They absolutely can. However, there is difference between disliking and disagreeing with Bush and "Bush Bashing."
Disliking Bush is fine. I disliked Clinton. Never said he was the anti-christ, never said he was a murderer or war criminal.
Disagreeing with Bush is fine. I disagreed with Clinton on a large number of things. Never said he was destroying the planet. Never said he subverted the democratic process.
As is with everything else, there are extremes. Bush gained control of the White House through a coup, Bush was responsible and behind the 9/11 attack, Bush is the ant-christ, Bush is a war criminal, Bush is a baby killer, Bush is a murderer, Bush has betrayed our country, Bush is a facists, Bush is a nazi, Bush is creating a police state, Bush is creating a tyranical state, Bush is a despot, Bush is a dictator, Bush is an ******, etc are all extremist ramblings and they are "Bush Bashing."
There's a fundamental difference between saying "I don't like the patriot act because I believe it infringes on our freedoms too much" and saying "Bush is destroying our constitution and creating a dictatorship, that ******." The first is borne out of differences is political ideology and, if you truly believe it, of course you should say it. The second however is borne out of rampant hatred, accomplishes nothing and only highlights hypocrisy and intolerance.
Bush believes the number one threat to our country is Islamic fascism and terrorism. He's doing what he thinks is best to combat that threat. If you disagree with him, that's fine, that's why we have a democratic process. However, to twist his motives and turn him into a symbol of pure evil is not fine. It is "Bush Bashing" and it is extreme, which makes people who do it extremists.

You can be against Bush and not a liberal. Pat Buchanan is a Bush-basher, and he's anything but liberal. Same for Congressman Ron Paul, a libertarian.

Liberal has been a bad word with the Bush puppet masters for years. It's a code word for "too intelligent." But the puppet masters didn't count on "Bush" becoming the code word for "too dumb." So actually liberal has become a good word again by default.

"In the delusional minds of many individuals, anyone who opposes Bush must be working together and supporting each other."
I wish the Dems were working together. That's the way the Republican leadership and their mouthpieces like Rush, Sean Hannity , Bill O'Reilly and the Wall Street Journal work.
We should be that smart.
