Mildew is tough to get out, if the shirts are white, wet the spots with water or a stain remover then sprinkle Oxiclean on them and let set 45 min. to an hour then wash, I have had to repeat these steps a couple of times. I hope this helps.

Usually if you rewash it with a good detergent, like Tide, it will take out the mildew. If it is white, then I would add Clorox to the water and wash it with Tide.

You can try bleach or bleach alternative. I use Tide with bleach alternative. If you have real dark spots then you may not get them out.
