Drive-up ATM buttons are marked with braille because federal regulations require it. To be specific, section 4.34.4 of the ADA Accessibility Guidelines for Buildings and Facilities (Appendix to Part 1191, 36 CFR Chapter XI, issued pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990) says, "Instructions and all information for use [of an automated teller machine] shall be made accessible to and independently usable by persons with vision impairments." Drive-up ATMs, unlike the walk-up variety, don't need to be wheelchair accessible, but the rules make no exception regarding accessibility by the blind.

Well sometimes, they walk in the park and stroll around town and if the line inside the bank is too long, they will walk through the drive through and they need the braille so they can figure out what they're doing, but if they use the ATM I dont know how they'd figure out what the screen says so I don't know why they even have braille dots for atms, it doesn't matke sense..

Coragryph is right. Having worked for an ATM company, they make all ATM's alike, but install them in diferent manners. The keypads are universal, and thus have brail.

Maybe the company that builds the machines just automatically puts the brail on every model they make.

Don't overlook the obvious.

because some human beings easily walk as a lot as use them, even with it being achronic-up ATM. actual even with the undeniable fact that, if I were blind i might want to be slightly on the leary side to debris with my economic company account at an ATM like that.

Because the company that makes the drive up machine is the same company that makes the walk up machine....the kepypad is the same

Old joke but still kinda works.
They make one model of the machine and put it everywhere. The law requires braille and accessible machines so they just use one model.

Maybe so your driver can park, and you walk over to the machine. I sometimes use the ATM's in other languages just for kicks. I will try braille next! Thanks.

Cute.

The actual reason is that it's easier to manufacture standard keypad interfaces that are interchangeable components, rather than worry about where any particular ATM terminal is going to be used.
