How long does it take befor I can feel my baby moving? My doctor asks me every visit if I feel the baby, but I don't yet. I know that you get the butterflies in your stomach sensations first then of course later the kicks, but how long till I get the butterflies. How many weeks aprroximately?

I've had a child before, but I just thought I remember feeling him at about 13-14 weeks. By the time I was 5 months they were very obvious kicks, but I felt the butterfly feeling much earlier. Just can't remember what exact point.

You should feel them between 16 and 20 weeks. I am 18 weeks along now and first felt my baby at 15 weeks along, but this is my 3rd child.

You might not feel it til a lil later after 20 weeks, especially if your bigger than your suppose to be or this is or first child.

I felt my first baby move at 21 weeks, and the second at 18 weeks. With the second, you know what the feeling is, and the muscles are weaker. Both times were in bed at night, when I was laying quietly. It actually feels a little bit like gas to me, but higher up in the belly. It is a little fluttery feeling, but nothing like "butterflies in you stomach" when you're nervous. Congratulations, and don't worry about it too much if your doctor thinks everything is okay. My son kicked me so hard in the last months that he seperated the muscle from my ribs in a spot. Eventually those kicks will be too big to not notice!!

First child.....

I started feeling my son right at 5 months... I did not realize until almost 6 months what it was. It honestly at first feels like a butterfly wing flapping against the lining of your stomach. (not the nervous butterfly feeling)

Later as they get bigger and stronger their kicks will feel like Gas bubbles) You know when you hold in gas and it bloats your stomach like bubbles.. Really weird..

Also towards the end of the pregnancy you can feel it when your child gets hiccups. That is funny to feel. It feels like a constant kick every few seconds. (Their hiccups last forever)
