Cars, at least in the United States, seem to be most indicative of a person’s narcissism or a person’s paranoia. This is especially true when we look at the issue in terms of car size. The popularity of the SUV highlights the fact that people are self-absorbed, because the size of the automobile is almost never used to accommodate a large passenger or cargo load as much as it is demonstrate ones sheer physical presence on the road. Its essentially one-upmanship.

They represent the entitled class who believes that they are above nature and would prefer immediate personal comfort to the comfort of our dying earth. When I see a soccer mom barelling through the city in her giant SUV alone, it makes me sad to see such waste.

I think they are starting to represent the average american; most of the newer model cars have big fat a**es.

They represent how materalistic we can be sometimes. It seems that the more you make, the nicer your car is.
