When I was 6 wks pregnant. I had the same thing happen.
The dark bright red blood is fresh blood. I went to the ER and they did test on me. Luckily I didnt lose my child but heres what the ER Doc said:
If you bleed (pads and pads) full then you may be having a miscarriage.
If you do start miscarrying... at this early of a time there is nothing Doctors can do. They state your child was not in healthy enough condition or something was wrong and this is your bodies way of rejecting the child.
Unless you are far along enough to have the baby and the baby survive there is nothing they can do when you start to miscarry.

It sounds like general spotting if it is dark or darkish it is old blood. Sometimes there might be light spotting but if you see bright red blood or there is alot you need to see a doc asap! Good Luck and Congrats! Remember if you are scared at anytime call your OB that is what they are there for!

I would check with the doctor just to be sure they like to know if there is any bleeding but I think they say that if it is spotting it is okay and happens with some pregnancies (I have it happen a little after sex but it is only immediately after) but to be aware of spotting with severe cramps or with bright red blood...it doesn't hurt just to give a call and get their opinion besides it might give you a little peace of mind.

first and for most your highest chance of miss caring is from 6 to 14 weeks. my midwife always told me your ok as long as your not having cramp's but it is something that you should call about. you wouldn't want to have anything be wrong.

although some women may have their periods during pregnancy it isn't good to ignor these signs. speak to your obstetrician right away and let him know that you have been bleeding so that you can rule out anything that might be devestaing to you and your baby. best wishes.......
