I DESPISE Summer Assignments!!!?

Question

What is a common goal between the characters from these books?
~ To Kill a Mockingbird
~ A Hope in the Unseen
~ Of Mice and Men
~ Nickel and Dimed

P.S. I've already got my ideas and have started the assignment, I just want to make sure that I'm not completely off course. Haha. And thanks in advance.

I only read two of them. I can tell you that the characters in both To Kill a Mockingbird and Of Mice and Men are southerners and are more or less honest. Oh and both books talk about animals.
