I am seriously quite confused when people talk about these two. Are these softwares or something that should come along with your MS office suite when you buy it? How do you figure it out if you have one on your system? Or do you have to get them like other softwares and add to your system ? What is the purpose of "Word Processor" and "Word Perfect"? What do they help us for? Only serious answer will be awarded with 10 points.

OK..... a word processor is nothing more than ANY piece of software that comes on your computer or one you buy yourself. which you can type letters and documents with.

Windows, all verions actually comes with a small one (not a whole lot of bells & whistles but will turn out a nice document. It is found under Stard/Programs/Accessories/ Wordpad.

There are many nice Word Processing softwares including Word and Word Perfect. The one you pick usually is the one that is used most around you. Businesses typically prefer MS Word because so many businesses use it - however there are many industries that use Word Perfect. Typically, one program doesn't read another so if you typed a document in Word and wanted to send it to someone with Word Perfect, you'd have to convert the file or SAVE AS a wordperfect file.

So don't get too upset about it.... just ask people you think you would communicate with (or work) what they're using. That way when you send a document, they'll have the proper software. Also ALL computers will be able to use the Wordpad tool that Windows give you.

Have fun with your computer - don't get stressed out - no dumb questions - life is a learning experience..... and you learn as you grow.....good luck.

They are basically the same, only difference is a couple of minor adjustments, and different names ( to bypass ) the copyright infringement between companies, Yes All Microsoft Offices from the first one to the lastest have Microsoft Word, which is a word processor, and they also have the same in Microsoft Works, another similar style Template Suite, Corel has the Word Perfect in their office suite, Sun has Star Office which in turn has a word processing program, All Office Suites have them, I use "Open Office 2.0" it has all the features and whistles that these expensive versions have but it's totally FREE, and it can handle All Other Office Suite Documents, Open, Save, Convert, Etc. And Sun Microsystems Backs the Open Office, which is the free version of Star Office, give it a try....

First Word Processor is a term used for a machine that only has simple word processing abilities, basically a glorified electronic typewriter.

Word Perfect is just a software package to use on a PC or Mac etc, there's a lot fo them out there, the standard is the microsoft package, Microsoft Office 2000 etc, this bundles with Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Frontpage, Outlook, and Access, they all do various different things, from databases, to spreadsheets, to word processing, and fancy presentations.

if you have the microsoft suite, microsoft Office 200, you'll see Word, (Microsoft Word), (a big blue W in a blue box for a file) on your system, usually located in the start, programs area.

If you have an alternative, it should still be located in the Start Programs area where you run any of your other applications from, and if this all sounds greek, I suggest you get lessons from a college, like Computers for beginners, this will help you greatly!

Hope this helps.

WORDPERFECT was the first great DOS Wordprocessor on the market and basically keyed the market until Microsoft came along with Windows 3.0 and all of a sudden GRAPHICAL USER INTERFACE was the thing and WORDPERFECT fell behind with the times and Microsoft's WORD took over.

WORDPERFECT corporation basically went down the tubes and COREL bought the name to add to their suite so as to try to compete with the Microsoft Office Suite.

So to answer your question, a WORDPROCESSOR is a type of software which includes Microsoft WORD, Corel WORDPERFECT among others.

A "word processor" is a computer program that allows you to write, format and print documents. "Word Perfect" is one brand of word processor made by a company called Corel. Microsoft makes another word processor that is part of MS Office called "Word".

Like a car is something you drive and a Camaro was one kind of car made by Chevy. A Pinto was another car made by Ford.
