I do most of my support through my local church. We have a clothes closet, furniture, diapers, and other needs that food stamps or W.I.C. don't supply. Counseling is offered, as is daycare, parenting support groups, and help with finding housing and government assistance. We also give "grants" to single parents trying to make in college. It is hard enough to have a child and be a student, so we try to help them not have to have a full time job, too. Of course, all this is offered to ANY single parent, whether the mother or father. We also help them find other help when needed. Family assistance is available, too, but it is a little different.

Its been my impression that pro-lifers don't support single mothers at all. Planned Parenting on the other hands helps families in many ways, before, during and after the pregnancy. Now THAT is a great organization It gets bad press because it does recognise abortion as an option (but does not preach it as the ONLY option the way people make it out to be)

Great question, but I don't know the answer!! There is a program called Birthright that helps pregnant and/or new moms. I believe the pro-lifers support it, but not sure how many actually make donations to it.

There is a program through the Knights of Columbus, a group associated with the Catholic Church that helps from before and after birth. I know there are other groups through different churches but that's the one I know most about. They help with adoption, assistance, and counseling.

Their is an organization that I donate too called In His Hands or something along those lines. I get adds in the mail and donate to them.
It is about helping women (married and single, young and old) get pregnancy testing. It helps them with counseling. It helps them with a place to live (if they need it) and pre-natal care. It helps them with what they need for the baby by giving them diapers, baby clothes, car seats, etc.

Great question. It's sort of like the nipple nazi that are out here touting breastfeeding this, that, and the tenth and being downright beligerent with their "breastfeeding advocacy", but they are all talk and insults. They are not the ones out there lobbying for better maternity leave for mothers to FACILITATE breastfeeding if that is the choice. To my knowledge, they have no well-funded public programs to help these mothers, they are just all talk, propaganda and emotions.

I've heard of some counseling and adoption services but don't know that they really do much. You would think that "putting their money where their mouth is" would be high on the agenda but perhaps condemnation is thought to be sufficient.
