I believe it should be legalized. It is already used for medicinal purposes. It does not impair your judgment no more than alcohol, as a matter of fact more people are killed in accidents do to drunk driving. It will also make room in the prisons systems for people who really need to be in there. It will offer employment. (laborers, factory, sales, etc.) Especially with the farmers, instead of giving them a subsidy check, give them something to farm, because be it legal or not, it is not going anywhere. The government needs to stop trying to "save" people from themselves. Go picket the drunks at the government owned liquor stores and get them off the roads!!!! Thanks, and have a great day..

Yes.
For recreational use it should be regulated w/ the option to home grow small amounts. Just like beer.
I understand this may take a while for fruition, if at all.
Medicinal marijuana should be legal now. I am a cancer surivor and it help signficantly. As in all medications, some work better than others. There are many ant-emtic and other cancer medicine on the market that work great. There is Marinol as well, whcih can work well with some. Marijuana in smoked or vaporized form is just another option. Unlike Marinol is easier to self titrate the amount of medicine that is required by the patient and takes effect faster. Marijuana may not be apporpiate for everyone but it should be an option for the ill. Just because there are other options does not negate the medicinal qualities that marijuana has. Even if their was no medical benefit, if an ill person wanted to imbide they should be allowed. Afterall this America right?...the Home of the Free?

I've been smoking weed for 20+ years.
I DON'T think it should be legalized - I do think however it should be DECRIMINALIZED (as is the case in Holland and hopefully soon here in Canada) .. NOBODY should have to go to jail for smoking herb.
The only reason I don't think it should not be legal is the int'l law ramification - particularily WRT to the United States - who in Canada's case is our largest trading partner and as long as there is a War on Drugs in the US.. it would play havoc with our trade.
Also, as far as I know there is an Int'l Law that would be difficult to modify in favour of legalizing, which is why Holland opted to decriminalize..
Intersetingly, countries w. decriminalization have a considerrably LOWER user rate that those where marijuan is criminalized..

Honestly, I would say no, but if you think about it. What is a reason that many people smoke marijuana? BECAUSE IT IS ILLEGAL. They want to rebel. If you remember back when they illegalized alcohol for a while.. People went crazy for it. Then they legalized it and it wasn't as popular. That is because people like to do what they're not supposed to. So...
If it becomes legal, maybe (not immediately) the popularity of it will decrease. Ponder that for a while!

It's a difficult question to answer either fully for it or fully against it. For medical purposes, yes. It's proven that using marijuana a certain amount will help older people keep their memories. But if those people can get it as a "prescription" then who knows how many people will say they have memory issues and try to get it through the doctor or something...but I'd say No.

yes, the only reason it isn't is because the DEA makes lots of money taking it then selling it back into the streets
P.S. Marijuana can't kill you and even if it could both cigarettes and alchohol can kill you so even that wouldn't be a legit reason not to legalize it

Sure . Think about it, how many people do you here of or know that has died from alcohol? Tens of thousands of Americans and other nationalities DIE every year in alcohol related deaths. How many do you know has DIED from a joint!!!! My opinion "LEGALIZE IT "! We need to make alcohol and cigarettes illegal.

I don't think it should be legal. However, I do believe it should be decriminalized. That way, our prisons will be emptier and have space open for people who actually deserve to be there...like murders or rapists.
