I am about 16 weeks pergnant and about 2 days ago, I noticed a sharp pain in my lower right abdomen. It hurts bad enough to make me cringe and have to sit down. I called a nurse care hotline and they told me to go to the ER. So I went. The hospital staff were very nice, but didn't do much. They did an ultrasound on the baby and everything looked fine. My bloodwork and urine came back normal, but the pain still persisted. They told me to go see my OB and sent me home. I took Tylenol for the pain, but it didn't help much. I called the next day to my OB's office and they told me to go see my primary care doc. So I went. He sent me back to the ER and gave them a list of tests to do. They did was an ultrasound on my appendix. Came in the next day and they did more ultrasounds. I was diagnosed with cysts on my ovaries 2 weeks before concieving. I noticed bumbs on them during the ultrasound. Do they normally cause this much pain? Should I have a c section and have everything removed?

This same pain happened the first time with the cysts. I am only 23, but don't plan on more kids after this one. Any advice? I know this might trow me into early menopause if I go ahead with it, but it seems to be better than this pain.

Hi you sound exactly like I did. You need not worry too much alot of times the cysts may flare up in pregnant women. It also could be your abdominal/vaginal muscles expanding and/or tearing to make room for the baby. I would follow up with your doc and tell him/her your concerns about a c-section. They normally will not do a hysterectomy for cysts unless determined to be cancerous. Talking to your doc will really help alleviate all of these problems. Good Luck and Congrats!

Ovarian cysts are very very common, especially during the first trimester, they may until 20 weeks preg though. Many many women experience these and they can be excruciating painful. So if the baby and the appendix are OK, .You just have to deal. And NO< you shouldn't get everything removed after the baby. You should only get the ovaries removed if there is a really good reason like malignancy or ectopic pregnancy.
Another thing is when the cysts rupture that cause alot of pain, but this also means that the cyst is gone. It is too bad they didn't look at everything the first time you went to the ER.

Never had to deal with anything like that but with my son I went into premature labor at 20 weeks I was almost 2 cm dilated so they did a cerclage. Then put on bedrest until 33 weeks in the hospital that's when I had him. I'm pregnant again and now I'm 25 weeks along and my cervix is starting to thin out already even though I had a cerclage again... " I have an incompent cervix." I feel for you but think long and hard about whether or not you don't want anymore kids" and I would talk to your doctor about the whole de-pluming thing. good luck

U shouln't be worring so much so early and u DEFINITELY shouldn't be talking about a c section. Pray for good health for both u and ur baby, after u deliver then start worring.
