I believe that it does. We are held back by our doubt in ourselves and the logic that keeps us grounded.
Do you know how much power you really have over yourself, others, and your surroundings?
Do you know how much potential there is inside of everyone that rarely comes out?
How do you use the power within your mind?

If we can "think it" then it is possible. Many ideas were scoffed out in their infancy. There are things present that we can only guess at. I do not hold myself back or limit my thinking...I just "let 'er rip!" We are only as limited as our thinking. We do not live inside a box or vacuum. We fill it as we go...we learn as we go..and we often perform the impossible within the improbable. Am I physically limited? Yes. My mind is another matter. When it comes to my mind or manner of thinking, "The sky is the limit"...and beyond. "See you on the other side."

Yes, I would agree that your mind is limitless. Your mind was first a fledgling, then it obtains knowledge from the surroundings. Empiricism. I don't think you know how much power you really have over yourself because your mind makes you who you are. If you really knew how much power you have over yourself, then you would use that power, right? Some people just keep it covert. Yup, I do know how much potential there is inside of everyone because from one's personality and persistence, I can tell whether this person would continue this path and go on to succeed in life. Some people hide their potential abilities because they don't want to boast about their achievements and what not. The power in my mind stays put for some reason, can't really show it. :T

I have some idea of our potential, from the freaky $h|t I experience in my dreams every night! I wish I could tap into it and use it creatively.

A newborn baby has the most potential, but is soon conditioned, nurtured, limited - parts of the brain become hard-wired (though not always irreversibly) - it's called learning.

I think you're off the mark when you talk about power OVER others/surroundings (that is the way of the dark side). I think we have a sixth sense, or intuition; and with practice i.e. meditation, we can tune in to... energies, waves, resonances, including past events and possible futures. I've had a few experiences in life which lead me to this conclusion - events when I've suddenly found exactly what I wanted, and dreams which have come true.

You ask some great questions, BTW!

True, the mind is limitless and can *think* of anything.

But thinking and doing are two separate things. And I have no doubt in myself :-)

For example, a hurricane might be on track to hit my city. I can attempt to "will" it away through the power of thought, but that is futile - seriously. The best immediate course of action is to think about how to get out of the way and secure safety for my family.

The mind may not be able to stop the hurricane, but collective minds can devise ways to "break up" or steer hurricanes away from populated areas. But to believe that a mind can exert control over a hurricane - or any other physical object - lulls people into a false sense of security.

There are people out there who use the power of their mind over others who choose to be manipulated ......think of the likes of Hitler.....but there are those who tap into this side of the mind and those who don't perhaps out of fear, interia, or something else. I do believe that within reason anything is possible......but it is a gift.....the mind and our facuties are the most precious thing we have in the world....and we should indeed nurture with positives. Too often the people who realise the power use it as a negative.
The power of collective minds in a positive pulling in the same direction could be staggering interms of world issues....yes being serious here.....just think about it. For ourselves of course we should use it...but too often we do not.....and am not altogehter sure why not. I don't personally.........but you have got me thinking

OH MY GOD! I was just thinking bout this yesterday.

I think you're right. Imagination has no limits, so why should the real outside world? Inventors, authors, artists, musicians, designers etc. have all had a concept in their head, and by finding the right materials, they can probably acheive anything. The power that we have and use, is also limitless, the only obstacle is that we don't know where to find it in our mind.
This shows that there is always potential in everyone, which rarely comes out.
This power/potential is 90% of the time overshadowed by adaption to certain conditions, illness, fatigue, and generally other people.

There is a mental discipline that can help unlock the minds potential, it is called Lucid Dreaming it allows you to control you dreams by realizing in the dream that your are dreaming and by becoming self aware that you are in this state of mind you can control the aspects of your mind that hold you back, for instance if you have a fear of heights and want to over come this fear then you can confront that fear in your dreams where you know you cant be hurt, so this discipline opens up your sub consciousness to your own internal scrutiny, I'm not saying you will develop Jedi like powers but it will help to unlock your hidden potential. Remember that nothing is impossible only improbable.

only with practice. Ive found that when i try to use mental power to influence the real world, it is limited to forming a wedge about 10 feet in front of me that suggests that the weak minded move to the right or the left. those who are determined to stand in the way are not affected. Though i am of the opinion that greed and politics are actually what cause our technology to stagnate.

maybe ?? like a superhero or something??, maybe

though i dont really think if we are really meant to do that, because if you believe in evolution, as we develop over the next 10000 and adapt to our surroundings, those abilities would slowly be able to be controlled and manipulated, but if you really think about it now, if someone were to unleash their full brain potential, it could either mean the end of teh world, because of the sudden rush of power combined with the still present thought of human dominance and the piower-hungriness we have, or it could mean a nirvana where all people learn from this one person or group of people, and we discover what it truly means to live, come up with new and great understanding of philosophy, and live in eternal peace, or something could have already happend like that to someone and the world just insn't ready to accept it.

who knows, its a bittersweet thought, and something to ponder on, but i dont think you should go on wasting your life trying to find the true human in you, you should be a productive member of society

You are right. But, we don't limit ourselves to what we know. We put limits on ourselves based on what we do not know. If we all took a step based on what we know, the world would be a lot better. Keep this in the back of your mind:
No matter what your physical or mental state, you are NEVER invincible.
