The media circus on Katie is just getting started. Does anyone else think she is a lightweight and that there are many other women who would actually do a much better job reading the news. Do we really care if the newsreader is a big celebrity?

You are looking at the situation from a biased point of view. First of all, Katie Couric had 12 years of hard news experience at local TV stations around the country before she became the coanchor of the Today show. Secondly, being anchor of the CBS Evening News doesn't just involve showing up to work at 6:00, slapping on some make-up and then reading the news that's put in front of you at 6:30. The job involves being at CBS from 10:30 in the morning to 7:30 at night deciding what news to report and the best way to report. Katie Couric is a professional and she can do as good, if not better a job than Walter Cronkite or Tom Brokaw.

I do agree with you. I don't think much of her and she is too political. She shows her too far left views to often. I find anyone on either side that does that doesn't come off very creditable.
