leave it in, it will keep the battery charged when it is plugged into the wall. but if you ever store your laptop for a long period of time, then take the battery out. its important to keep it charged in new laptops. new batteries are not cheap.

I never use mine on battery, at least not intentionally - once in a while I forget to plug it into AC. The battery is supposed to last for hours; but after leaving it in while using it I have discovered that it will shut off after only 20 minutes or so if I forget to plug it in. I've been told the short life is because I left it in while using it plugged in.

Leave it in, the outlet will re-charge it. There is no reason ever to take it out, except when that is the only way to switch the laptop off if it freezes.

It can work both ways in or out if u have ur battery in and its pluggled and changes and changes when its full it is a chance of the battery to burn becan there is a tiny matel inside th battery and there r 2 ternemal + and - if the metal get to hot and breakes ther ternemal it will burn or explode the battery.

I have never heard of taking your battery out when you're plugged in.... however, I really would recommend scanning your owner's manual for that information. If you can't find it (I lose stuff all the time) you can probably find it on the manufacturer's website....& if not, you can fire off an email to them & they'll be sure to help you out.

With older laptops with older batteries, you were supposed to take the battery out when you weren't using it. However, batteries have improved immensely and you can most likely leave your battery in all the time with no negative repercussions.

I don't think it matters. If you leave a battery sitting around, it will lose charge and have to charge it sometime. As long as you don't have those Dell ones made by sony :)
