Everybody judges and stereotypes it's just a part of life. I don't like it and I wish I could turn that judgmental part of my brain off to see what I really see when I interact with people.

I am not stereotypical at all. Wait...a little bit. Examples: I'm female but not into shopping, clothes, or backstabbing my friends (sorry, couldn't resist). But I am sensitive, I cry, and I like jewelry. Those are stereotypes of women, correct?
I find myself working to NOT stereotype people. I think the stereotyping issues run through my mind and I tell myself to discount them. I think it's somewhat natural to do that.
Example: If I see guy of a certain age, race, and wearing certain clothing, my mind might say "gang member," but I tell myself not to make an assumption about this person.

Everyone stereotypes and not all stereotypes are bad. For example, Black people are good dancers, Asians are smart, etc. These are all stereotypes and they are not offensive; however, some might find them offensive. Anyways all stereotypes have some truth in them, they weren't just made up by someone.

everyone stereotypes, it is how we catagorize , make decisions and reason. It is healthy, normal and even smart to do it when warrented and every so often, but people who tend to generalize and stereotype all the time are either called bigots or know-it-alls.--I generalize and stereotype ALL the time, but that is only because I really DO know it all, therefore, I guess I'm a bigot, so be it.

Not me, I can't quite pigeon hole myself into a categories, hippie is probably the closest (I grew up in Berkley). Stereotypes exist because they are out there! Yes I find myself type-casting other people, but only when it's obvious and annoying to me! Too many Abercrombie and Fitch chicks and pricks at the college I attend, the chatter is obnoxious!

no i dont believe in stereotypes. Why do we feel the need to stereotype in society... if its to sort the good from the bad than thats ignorant, I dont even form a "negative opinion of someone until I get to know them and than I decide...to really know what kind of a person they are you have to observe their beliefs, how they react in certain situations and how they treat others..

Thanks for your comment a few seconds ago. HOWEVER i am far from dumb or ignorant. Justice is ones penalty or reward for his or her ways and actions. I really insulted the guy in an INTELLIGENT manner, but those who care not to venture DEEPLY, will not see. I dont stereotype, but those who pose the question do... Be strong sista. Peace Holla if you want to kick knowledge, know the ledge before you fall off the edge...

It would be a lot easier not to stereotype, if everyone did not act so stereotypically.

If a black man is hanging from a building by his fingers how does he get back on the roof? You just bend down and take one boot off one of his hands and help him up. Someone told me that as a joke. I'm not saying i think that would be cool or that i would like that to happen to someone. If that happened it would be terrible for anyone.

Sometimes. If you praise somebody by their looks and you imitated that sports, then you are stereotypical. Simply says!
