He is from Dallas, TX. His family does not believe in mixing Dark with light (skin). His sister married one of his cousins to preserve the bloodlines (light skin tone) His daughter attended Adelle Turner Elementary school years after I did. One of his sisters used to baby-sit my younger brother and me. His mother asked my mother when I was a young child to be a surrogate mother to one of their relatives who had married a darker woman, so his wife would not give him a dark child (my mother is a little lighter than Stead with straight hair) Finally He and his daughter's mother did not make it because she was too dark and his mother wasn't having it. That being said, what do you think?

I think it's common for light skinned blacks to discriminate against the darker skinned brothers/sisters. All you have to do is look at advertisements. It is very common in New Orleans; we call that "creole". It's a shame; but you know how that goes and has been going on for years! Anyway, I've known light-skinned mama's who would literally disown their sons/daughters if they had a dark baby. There were even churches in N.O. where there was a paper bag tacked up on the door. If your skin was darker than that bag, you could not worship there.
No..Oprah will never marry anyone. She's too rich, too old, to fat, too stuck on herself and loves the control money gives her. Can you blame the woman?? LOL sista has it made!

I seem to remember her talking about a book where it was dark skin against light skin thing going on.. and it could be what you are saying is right.. I do not believe that Oprah would ever have a child even if they did get married.. I don't think she wants to or she would have been married by now.

That is crazy. Everyone knows no matter how light or dark a person is, they can end up having a child that is extremely light or perhaps even dark. It all depends on the genes and what is in the family too. My parents are both white and my sister has olive complection. So it comes from the traits of the family which are hereditary.

Besides that sounds interesting. But at this point Oprah doesn't want to marry. And why should he want to marry, he gets everything he wants right now anyway. I guess the money doesn't matter to his family. Oprah is over 50 and is not planning on having any children naturally.

I think it's pathetic that people still think that way nowadays.. as to what shade a baby should be etc etc.... people should realise that having a child is the greatest blessing and miracle on earth... it doesn't matter if the child is black, white, lighter black or darker white... it's a little miracle... a little human being...
and they've been so long together.. who cares if they get married or not.. they're happy... live and let live is what I say...

I think you know a lot of disturbing things about Stedman's family, but you haven't said anything about Stedman.Not everybody agrees with the views of their family, I can prove that, I do not share many of my family's views, and lack of morals. Stedman is his own man, and let's not forget he did propose marriage to her once already. We will never really know their reasons for not getting married, but that doesn't mean they will never marry. Maybe they are just too busy with their hectic careers to commit to each other on that level. Obviously their living situation works for them. All I can say is, they don't have children so the way they conduct their lives is their own business.

I'm not buying this story...sorry...anyway, they are not going to have kids so the line dies with them. It wouldn't make any difference. And don't you think if that is the case, her money would make her lighter??? Again, race and color comes to play.
