Ladies... (and guys too, I guess!) My Husband and I have been TTC since February. Well, I went off the pill in February, after being on BC for 13 years. We still arent pregnant yet. I recently had a pap and the doctor said everything was great with me. I just cant understand why we arent getting pregnant? The doctor said to try 10 days after my period starts, that was the most fertile time for a woman, ok did that, now everytime I "start" I cry for about a day. I keep wondering, why cant I get pregnant? I have heard, just stop trying and it will happen! Well, thats easier said then done.. Any tips?

Oh, hang in there. The best thing to do is not try so hard. It causes stress that can actually prevent you from getting pregnant. It will happen! Pray about it!

I strongly recommend reading "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler.

A Pap doesn't tell you anything at all about your fertility, just that you have no abnormal or precancerous cells on your cervix. Your doctor likely won't do anything in the way of fertility testing until you've been trying for a year; it can easily take a perfectly healthy, normal couple that long to conceive.

Weschler's book will help you determine when you ovulate. Depending on the length of your cycle, your doctor's recommendation to have sex around day 10 may be missing your fertile window entirely. You can learn how to chart your cycles, though, to determine exactly when *you* ovulate and up your chances of conceiving. Even if you don't conceive right away, charting a few cycles can help you pinpoint potential problems and give you some data to take back to your doctor to help determine a course of action.

You kind of have to consider that you've only been trying a couple of months. While it's certainly true that some women get pregnant right after going off the pill, it *can* damage the vaults on your cervix that produce mucous. The damage can sometimes take a few months to reverse itself (and you were on the pill for a fairly long time) and until it does, you may be ovulating but not producing fertile quality mucous to aid the sperm in getting to the egg.

If you decide to chart and everything looks good (you can confirm ovulation, you're producing quality mucous and your luteal phase is sufficiently long to allow for implantation) you might want ot have your husband's semen analyzed. It's as good a place to start as any because it's easy; it's not a test that's dependent on a monthly cycle and it's non-invasive.

Well for one thing Ive heard that its takes a full year after discontinue birth control to conceive, in my case plus others i know. some cases not true though. another thing that i heard is that a woman is only fertile on the 14th day after the first day of her last period.that's if you have a normal 28 day cycle.not going against your Doctor but heres a web site that proves it http://www.sfsi.org/answers/fertile.html
and some ways its true that when you least expect it it will happen. i tried for a long time then when i least expected it happened. i also calculate when i would be pregnant i had a normal 28 day cycle and i tried the whole week i would be fertile(14 days after the FIRST day of my last period) worked for me cause you only have like a 24 hour window frame.good luck i hope everything works for you.

Well, you could wait a few more months, or make an appointment with an infertility specialist. A pap smear does not detect fertility problems, like blocked tubes, low sperm count, hormonal difficulties, lack of ovulation, etc. These need to be evaluated so that if there is a problem, it can be addressed and you can get pregnant. Good luck!

My husband and I tried for a year before we got pregnant. Unfortunately, I lost my baby at 16 weeks. The problem was not with me, it was him. We had his semen tested and found out he had a prostate infection. Apparantely, 1 in 4 men have this condition but have no symptoms at all. After 2 weeks of antiobiotics, we got pregnant!! And he finished his pills on April 16th and we conceived on April 21st. NO JOKE!!! I would reccomend him having a semen analysis done. Ask his doc to reccomend him to a fertility specialist. They will do all the tesing there. Good luck!!

Stop making babies and start having sex, or make love, or do the wild thing.
You need to focus on having horny fun instead of 'working hard on a baby'.

Go on a vacation in the wild with the intent to have FUN and have sex in the nekkid sky.

I often read about couples who's relation gets destroyed under the pressure of reproduction.
If you try hard enough, you can ***** all the love out of a relationship.
