It's really just a figure of speech. By some interpretations, Eve's seduction of Adam (to eat the fruit) can be construed as her 'prostitution' of herself, in order to avoid the guilt of her own sin.
There are further references later in the Old Testament that indicate that the actual sin was one of lust.
Taken from that point of view, those who condemn prostitution have used this analogy to excess. In a manner of speaking, we are all prostitutes, because we all work for pay. It all depends on your point of view, and the way all people are prone to look at society--For the good or for the bad. B.

Prostitution isn't considered the world's oldest profession just because it is mentioned in the Bible.
The Bible is a work of fiction (incorrectly passed off as non-fiction by religious nuts when, in reality, it wasn't even written by the alleged authors themselves—a logistical impossibility—but from the influence of early church fathers from narrative—and clearly fictional—stories passed down through the early years), so its lack of credibility is the reason why prostitution CANNOT be considered the world's oldest profession based solely on the fact that it is mentioned in the Bible.
Prostitution—still legal and/or regulated in certain parts of the world today (including the United States, like the state of Nevada)—is often described euphemistically as "the world's oldest profession." Prostitution (at least in the modern sense) cannot have emerged before the emergence of money, which can only have taken place after the emergence of several trades, and it has been claimed that midwifery, or perhaps gardening or teaching, are REALLY the world's oldest professions.
However, prostitution in exchange for goods or services—NOT money in the tranditional sense—may have been common for many thousands of years. The origin of prostitution, known from the third century B.C.E. (Before the Common Era*), probably reach far older times, and prostitution may date to early man, so it probably deserves its title as the oldest profession in the world.
*B.C.E. and C.E. (Common Era) is often used in scholarly, academic, historical, and archaeological circles/literature. They correspond to the same dates as B.C. (before Christ) & A.D. (abbreviation for "Anno Domini," a.k.a., "In the year of the/our Lord"), but without alluding to the birth or death of the fictional character from the Bible known as Jesus Christ.

it is not a occupation, that's a commerce, and it fairly is not any longer likely to be older than the different commerce, why in the international could it fairly is? What makes you think of prostitution precedes the different commerce? the place is the evidence? Hunter-accumulating is the unique way all of us lived, and hunter-gatherer societies do no longer nomrally have prostitutes. Nor do agricultural societies, that are the subsequent diploma of progression. professional trades advance once you have a society that has a foodstuff surplus, for this reason permitting some people to advance specialized crafts and replace their centers for different issues, i.e. foodstuff and so on. it fairly is not any longer likely interior the severe that prostitution is older than, say, development or pottery or weaving or carpentry.
