all really good suggestions there on your responses, to bad I didn't get that kind of response to my social question.

Bravenet.com
free website all kinds of free HTML to copy and paste into your webspace that they provide. They give you a link to the site, and editing is either visual or text mode even if you don't know HTML you will learn quick and remember to save save save after any changes. That way you won't get frustrated. I started with webspawner. com, it was okay but not very user friendly. After you have your site up and running, you can make it a paid account for like $5.00 a month.. I have four webpages from bravenet, my resume (which I don't need now I got a job) genelogly, my Woodcutter's Shop site, and a site to promote my books, alll free

Yes you can make your own site for free (free sites are ad supported). If you want to learn to actualy write html (recomended) then go to a tutorial site ie. htmldog.com or w3 schools. the learnng curve is about 1 week for basics buy 1-2months to make them well. if not then most web hosts will get you templates for free.
On teh question of hosting. There are hundreds of hosting sites around the net. These sites will offer ad supporter hosting with about 20-100megs space. I would say freewebs is an ok one but for $1.95 you can get it without adds.
GD
Hope it helps...

It is free. Go to www.blinkz.com. But this is kind of more like a personal website. But if you tell your friends, I think it would be good for you to keep your friends updated on the latest things for you and stuff like that but I don't really think a lot of different people will visit it.

It can be a free, if you're a beginner id recommend free anyway, try geocities or angelfire
and then start reading about html it may take awhile to actually get something going, or you could get a copy of microsoft front page and go from there

Geocities is the easiest and most free of them all, even a caveman could do it. (I hope that doesn't offend anyone.)
