Yes, it is a hotbed of tvvat bags building up good points by buying small stuff, then doing stings selling things that are non existent, counterfeit, or plain crap, before disappearing into the sunset with their bogus contact details!

There are simple ways to avoid bieng ripped off all you need is common sense.
Only ever buy from people with over 98% positive feedback and pay with paypal, make sure the sale has paypal buyer protection enabled.
If their feedback is private then do not buy.
Never pay with Western Union this means you will never see your money again or the item you wanted.
If selling, don't accept cheques for over the ammount the item sold for and they ask for you to send them back the difference.
Read the auction FULLY, look at the wording to make sure you know what you are buying.
Look out to see if there is required postal insurance, high p+p costs or anything saying the item is not tested/sold as seen.
Most importantly remember if it seems too good to be true then it probably is.
There are many honest people on ebay its just the bad ones give it a bad name.

Nope! I have had some 80 deals on eBay, and only bad postal service has ever cased problems.
Counterfeit goods? I take it they were cheap? "If something seems too good to be true, it probably is." That's the motto that Trading Standards and the police Fraud Squad recommend.
I hope you give it another try, I couldn't run my classic cars without the spares I get from eBay, and I've met some great people on there.

Report counterfeit sellers - I had a problem and eBay responded by taking the appropriate action. To be honest though, if it's too good to be true, then it probably is - buyer beware, as they say.

FBI, US Postmaster General, local police etc if you are in the USA. I ran into a counterfit software company and reported them. Ebay kicked them off.

Report to spoof@ebay.com. I have never been conned yet. You have to check thier ratings before bidding. And to check if they are paypal verified. Maybe it is you? Maybe you put the wrong contact and shipping info on your account? But if not, report to spoof@ebay.com
