Yes, phone Microsoft and tell them the problem. Tell them where you bought the computer from and look for your receipt. Hopefully, you still have your genuine XP crap sticker on the bottom of your laptop. if you've used file sharing like e-donkey or Limewire someone has nicked your registration! Don't ignore this problem - Microsoft have installed their WGA spyware. Windows genuine advantage. They do eventually - uninstall or disable XP. this has happened in offices to small companies. Microsoft have been sued several times! If you want to do a search for files containing WGA and delete them. 2 won't delete. WGATRAY.EXE won't delete or it's data file - they're in use. Move them (not copy) to your desktop. Right click your task bar and run task manager (or press ctrl-alt-del) then look for WGATRAY.EXE under processes and highlight it. then click end process. Now it isn't running - you can delete it from your desktop. The data file that goes with it may not delete - if not re start your computer and then delete the sucker! lol Deleting those files gets rid of the spyware - until next time you visit Microsoft for an update! So if you can prove it's genuine - threaten to sue Microsoft under the data protection Act!

Have you used the xp disc on any other system already. It only works on 1 system. You can check your validity by right clicking the new symbol you've got that looks like a traffic island , and click Validation Failure Details. If it still tells you its Counterfiet click contact us and explain your problem to Microsoft. Meanwhile to stop the Counterfiet messages, right click the symbol, choose Change Notifications Settings, this takes you to Microsoft Website. Expand Windows Genuine Advantage Notification Options. Then unclick Display Windows Genuine Notification Messages.

No but it sounds bad. I think someone might have hijacked your msn browser. When signed in and it fails there should be a number in the bottom left hand corner. Call up msn and tell them the numer every number has it only problem they should help you out. If you can find the number or there is no number i would call up msn and tell them what happened. Hope this helps

Yep, got me today!! I've had to purchase a genuine Microsoft XP which has set me back a tonne so not feeling great!! I brought my hard drive from a car boot, the man who sold it to me said his motherboard had completly broken, as there was nothing wrong with the hard drive he was selling it with its original version of windows on (bigger fool me). I brought the hard drive almost 2 years ago and someone told me today that if you don't purchase the genuine artical eventually windows would be removed from my system as i use the microsoft updates. Shame 2 years ago we didn't have the knowledge on how to establish what was and what wasn't counterfeit, coz i would have reported the horrid little creature. Hoepfully you can use the following link (as you recieved the CD) to confirm if yours is ok http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/downloads/WhyValidate.aspx
Best of luck

The new updates allow big bro to look to see if you have a propper copy of microsoft products if not you get this message all the time .You could reformat and reinstall and not allow auto updates. They are allowed to do this because in offial copies buy agreining to their terms it allows them to look at pretty much what they want and install their oen spy ware

you will possibly desire to purchase a licenced abode windows. This message looks whilst abode windows right away updates itself once you're on line and verify the licence status. If it founds that abode windows isn't actual, this message looks each and all of the time.

That's a fake email, Microsoft would never send emails to there customers, because they don't know your email.
