Your spine runs from the base of your skull to very low in your back, terminating just above the rectum actually. if your lower back hurts, and there hasn't been any trauma (you didn't do any heavy lifting for instance) then I suspect your bowel may be pressing on it and once you have a sizeable movement, the ache will go away. It may be helpful to apply an ice pack to the area for 20 minutes or so every hour.

The epidural numbs your lower half, but when they put it into your spine, you're not on any meds yet, so ya it wouldn't be comfortable. Think about it, it's uncomfortable getting a needle in your arm, and this ones going into your bone.

Your spine is made up of over thirty vertebrae, with discs inbetween the bul of them, with lots of muscles and nerves surrounding it. You could have twisted it, compressed it, pulled a muscle, bulged a disc... Doctors are not great at diagnosis or treatment of such matters. Get to a physiotherapist, PRONTO!

I have back trouble, every day we fight!

Did you fall on your tail bone? Some women I have heard can shatter their tale bone during delivery or childbirth. You should have an x-ray done.
