Correct answer is: minimum of 8 8 oz glasses (not cups) = 64 oz. on top of what you drink with meals and snacks. Your body is 75% water and every cell needs it to function properly. Don't drink too much water at one time as you will dehydrate or overhydrate yourself -- one takes the water out of your cells the other over-inflates your cells, especially in your brain and people who are running / walking in marathons (and the like) who get water at every stop have died from too much water. Don't mess with your health -- anything if not done properly can be lethal.
Example: Soy protein is supposed to be very good for you -- I switched to soy everything and alternated organic cow's milk with soy because soy has no calcium and must be fortified -- however, I have O negative blood and I should stay away from soy everything because now I have Graves disease (hyperthyroidism which is an auto immune disease -- lost about a pound a day until they figured-out what was going on).
Don't just read something in the newspaper or hear something from someone and make drastic changes in your eating habits without talking to a doctor or nutritionist. Nearly every answer here was different and we were talking about the basic essential -- water.
Be safe!!

Your suppose to have 6-8 servings of water a day.
A serving is the size of your fist. That also goes for servings of food too - a serving is different for everyone so the size of your fist. So if you get 6 glasses a day great. Even flavoured water without sugar for example 'crystal lite' which my diabetic boyfriend drinks and so do I counts as drinking a glass of water. Keep a bottle of water buy your side and try to drink your 6-8 glasses a day! Try to stay away from pop, it dries your skin, I have a hard time with that one. Enjoy! Drink up!

I know most people say you're supposed to drink 8 cups of water a day but that's not exactly true. You're supposed to INTAKE 8 cups of water a day. Remember that certain foods contain water (fruits and vegetables, for example.) If you're drinking 8 cups of water a day you're probably taking in too much water.

I was told you are suppose to drink at least 64 ounces of water. I also read that drinking too much water can be bad for the kidneys, it makes them work too hard. Sense they are a sensitive organ, the wear out fast. I also had a nutritionist tell me the more water you drink it helps the body to naturally burn fat...so from those suggestions you choose what's best for you.

8 cups of water. if you are not sure how much a cup is, use a measuring cup.
And why does drinking too much water be bad for your health? If you're young without any disease or anything, it's better to drink more than less.

Eight 8oz glasses a day but that usually leaves me thirsty so you can drink more but no more than 30oz in a hour or that will have to much water surrounding the brain.

Six to eight glasses of water a day unless illness or diet restricts the amount. You are also getting fluid in other forms of food or liquid! Peace!

to stay healthy you should drink an average of at least 8 glasses of water per day. around 2 liters. if you drink too much at one time, it could dilute your blood and can be fatal.
