I had a tilted uterus when I was pregnant. It didn't affect anything, I had a normal vaginal birth, only a 2 hour labor and 20 minutes of pushing. It just means your uterus tilts a little bit now that it's starting to grow. Congratulations!!

I have a tilted (or tipped) uterus too. It's not a big deal.

A tilted uterus leans backward on the cervix instead of being tipped forward on the cervix. In most cases, a tilted uterus is a normal anatomical variation...it's actually fairly common. It causes no signs or symptoms and needs no treatment. It can sometimes make it a little harder to find the baby's heartbeat in early pregnancy.

It DOES NOT mean that labor will be more difficult. Like I said, mine is tipped. USUALLY, when you are pregnant, it eventually tips back the other way due to the weight of the baby. (If you see a massge therapist during pregnancy who does cranial sacral therapy, this may even help make room for it to turn.) I've had three completely normal, spontaniously occuring labors and unmedicated births. They were not all that difficult and all three ended with the birth of healthy, normal sized infants.

Hi April,

I have a tilted uterus, it rarely causes a problem with conception, but not for you, me, or my sister-in-law with 4 kids.

My sister had four healthy pregnancies with no complications.

I had 1 healthy pregnancy, and am healthy pregnant now. I had to have a C-Section because of failure to progress. I was on pitocin and my son's heart became stressed (he was perfect no problems)

It MAY have been because my uterus is tilted (it is REALLY REALLY tilted) but it most cases it causes not problems at all.

I was concerned and my doctor explained it to me. He's the best.

Congrats on the heartbeat!

normally it means the cervix(sp) isn't straight up and down like you see in pictures, but pointed more forward or backward..I am backward and it made me less likely to concieve ..congrats on the baby, hearing the heartbeat always made me cry..
