ahh you all make me mad....how can u compare green day and chilli peppers to ZEP? you can sure put elvis along side them though (one of their greatest influences)

now most of you only know zep by one of three things:
-stairway to heaven
-backwards messages in songs (which is complete BS)
-jimmy pages black magic

if you actually got to know what led zeppelin is all about, trust me you would have a new #1 BAND. stairway to heaven does not define what led zeppelin is. its WAAAY over played, even robert plant (the singer of the band.... for the people who dont know) was fed up with singing it, at around 78.. too much play time on the radio. people would only know zep by the one song, which should not happen!........ i guarentee if you listen to Led Zeppelin III or Physical Graffitti you will have a much wider range in music than ever before.

led zeppelin were always about change, no album is alike the others. no other band is like that.......thus NO BAND COMPARES TO ZEP. they did it all, they did it the best, they still do it the best. since 1990 theyve sold close to 25 million records, thats 10 years after they broke up. and will it keep going ? you bet it will

I do not think they are the greatest but one of the greatest. I think there are a handful of bands in each generation that changes music, that identifies and defines music for that generation, and influences music for upcoming years. Zeppelin is NO DOUBT one of those bands. Page is a guitar god, Plant is WOW, Jones is amazing and Bonham ruled the drums. Their influence is everywhere. Check out Hammer of the Gods if you have not already.

I think they're extremely over rated, although 'stairway to heaven' was a good song.
