Yes some gay men have higer pitched voices, but so do some straight men. That doesn't make the straight ones gay, does it? The "entertainment" world has put the gay into a stereotype. By making him effeminate it makes him less of a man and weaker. We as a society recognize patterns in what we're "fed." We recognize the sterotypes so people and things will neatly fit into the boxes we've created for them to fit into.

This may be a controversial answer but i am one of those individuals, and i certainly don't like that i have a voice such as the one i do, which is a shame, but i'm okay with it, i can't actually change the physionomy of my voice box, it isn't intentional to conform or anything stupid like that, it may be because of hormone levels in the womb, something scientists say that stress and high androgen or levels in the womb can affect sexuality. It may be that i have a more balance hormonal makeup, and at the end of the day its what actually comes out of the mouth that counts and quite often its the campness attached to the voice that is athe charade, not the voice itself.

WHAT!!! Im a gay man, and my voice is extremilly deep, so deep in fact I could do voice overs for movies, there is no possible way anyone from my voice alone could tell I was Gay. I also have stuble and I am 6ft 3" all of which are not partically "gay" I play football, go to the pub with mates (who also don't have "gay" voices) A voice is a voice, Gay or Straight, No science, like a finger print, we are all different.

Not all gay men have higher pitched voices...so I would think that it would be done deliberately, but I could be wrong.

i'm dissing the gay community. they're disgusting adult adult males who've chosen a existence type that's only undeniable undesirable and morally incorrect. I don't think that they have *higher* voices it's what that particular man does with his. All men have an adam's apple and it lowers the voice as well as testoterone does.
Some guys just like being divas, lol!

some do it deliberately, others have naturally high pitched voices.
i have also met str8 men with high pitched voices, and joe pasquale has a high pitched voice too, and he is str8.
it doesnt matter really...i have a deep voice but it's not because am a lesbian: my aunt has an even deeper voice when she sings and she is str8.

They don't. You may be referring to the 'gay accent' but that doesn't have any impact on pitch.
