A reputable modeling agency generally doesn't have to go to a company - the company will come to them. If they do want a particular companies business they generally send a few of their models composite cards ( a card that has anywhere from 1-6 pictures from their portfolio as well as all of the model's stats) and information on how the company can book models with them.

Agencies are paid a percentage (usually around 15-20%) of the models paycheck from the company they modeled for. The agency will bill the company for the model's time, take their portion of the top and then cut the model a check.
