I'm looking for info on like the history and reputation of different bikes like the Suzuki Hayabusa and Yamaha R1 , etc...

http://www.totalmotorcycle.com has an attempt to rank the reliability of various bikes, and browsing their lists will tell you something about the history of different bikes too.
http://www.motorcycle.com has some great reviews, but you will have to pay a small fee to read many of the articles. I've subscribed and found the information there worth it - it's like having several years of motorcycle magazines for the price of three or four paper mags at a newsstand.
http://www.beginnerbikers.org and http://www.beginnerandbeyond.com are two good sites if you are a newbie thinking of getting your first sport bike.

If you are looking for information because you are doing a report then look at the factory's web sites. If you are looking to buy a bike then you should probably look for the forums.
