Because they would get the crap beat out of them by the other guys. Most men are scared to death by gay men, they think a gay man is going to jump on them and try to play find the brown star at any moment. Sraight men would never use the same shower, sleep in the same room or eat at the same table with an openly gay man in the military. They are way too macho for that.
