I've been there more times than I can count so I know all about it. Ok, first things first is that there are beautiful things to buy in Gatlinburg (its pretty much just shops) but they are usually very expensive. So, once you walk around Gatlinburg and see a hundred things you want to buy, wait and don't buy them just yet. Go to Pigeon Forge, which is about five minutes outside of Gatlingburg. They have great stuff also and at a much cheaper price. I usually find all my stuff there, but sometimes I do have to buy that beautiful hand made candle from a little shop in Gatlinburg.

Ok, I'll get back to Gatlinburg in a minute. Next place you should go to is Cherokee North Carolina which is maybe (at the most) thirty minutes outside of Gatlinburg. There's not as many tourists and its alot of woods and indian things. TONS of Native American stuff...from shops to sights. I love it there.

Then there's OberGatlinburg, which is at the top of a mountain. You can either drive up there or take a lift (the lift is more fun). There's mainly rides up there but there is a few shops.

Then of course there is DollyWood which is a must. There's again a ton of shops and a TON of fun rides. There's music always going on and activities to do. There's also a hall of fame and much more. I love DollyWood, even though I've been there about a billion times, it never gets boring. Oh, and if you like to swim check out Dolly's splash country.....its a big water park.

Ok, back to Gatlinburg. There's always music on the streets and people dressed up in funny clothes. Also, there is tons of foods of every kind so be prepared to either turn it down or gain five pounds, lol. But I do have to tell you about this one fudge shop (its on the right as you are entering Gatlinburg). I don't know the name of it but I swear it smells SOOO good. The smell will hit you as you are walking by it. There is also a Gelato shop (Italian ice cream) and I suggest you try it. It's much better than American ice cream.

In Gatlinburg there is shops for everyone. There's clothing stores, cigar shops, music stores (with everything you could think of .....I bought myself a poster of Jim Morrison), candles, wooden things....lol, I can't think of them all, but trust me you will never get bored. But as you are driving through all these things (Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg and so on) just look around and you will immediatley see tons of things you want to do (bumper boats, space needles).....you won't get bored and have fun!

Gatlinburg is alot of fun. You can ride a tram (high flying cable car) up to ober gatlinburg where they have summer time ice skating, visit the millions shops and stores, visit cades cove, which is an early village of some of the first white settlers that includes huge herds of wild deer, black bears, houses and churches that are over 200 years old. Also pigeon forge is about 15 minutes away and has theme parks, numerous go cart tracks and mini golf, and several good restaurants. In Gatlinburg try a restaurant called Linebarger's (sp?). It's excellent. Oh and also there is an excellent aquarium in town.

Visit Gatlinburg and experience Ripley's attractions, Ober Gatlinburg Ski Resort, breath taking views of the Smoky Mountains, and all the shopping, dining, and entertainment you could ask for. Gatlinburg is just a few miles from Dollywood.

Enjoy the Smokey Mountain National Park. It is a great place to visit. We were there a few years ago and enjoyed seeing a mom black bear and her 3 cubs. Great sight to see, but don't get too close. There is a lot of history at the SM NP, enjoy it. Take the hikes. We also enjoyed Dollywood. Down town Gatlinburg is very busy in the evening, but fun. You can park and walk all over.
