It's vaio, and try reformatting first. 60gig hard drive costs £79.99 at Maplin - that's a 2.5inch drive EIDE for laptops. I'd check with the manufacturer if a standard 2.5 inch EIDE drive will fit. I think so. But I've never had a laptop to bits - I hope I don't have to!

OK,
Firstly Create A DFT disk, this will check your drive for any faults:
http://www.hitachigst.com/hdd/support/download.htm
This program runs on 99% of makes of Hard drives
if it fails you need a new HDD:
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Samsung_Notebook.html
If it passes reload Windows.
Good luck!

Ebay...but only get a brand new & still sealed one. You dont want to be paying any more than £35 incl. P&P max, as an example, for a 40GB HDD on there.

are you sure you need a new one? usually a reformat will take care of any problems. laptop hard drives are not cheap. youd be better off just buying a new laptop.
