Probably a blown head gasket.
My 93 grand am blew a head gasket. Pontiac fixed it for free, even though it was like 3 or 4 years old.

Your cooling fan may not be working, the thermo switch that runs that fan may be bad. You could have a blown head gasket. When it comes from the radiator overflow, it goes into a plastic tank that holds about a gallon. If you have put too much anti freeze into this tank then it can over flow that tank as the engine heats up. Fan belt may not be tight enough also. It could be leaking from the shaft of the water pump too.

First pull the oil dipstick and see if it looks like chocolate milk or is extremely high level. If not make sure your fans are running, sometimes you get air trapped in the coolant passages, look for 2 brass bleeder screws and while filling with coolant leave open for air to escape.Start the engine and bleed more while warming up,but don`t let the radiator run low or you`ll get more air.Good Luck

the respond from lwjksu89 may be remarkable,i've got seen that take place earlier.the nice and comfortable combustion gasses can leak into the cooling equipment growing to be atypical stress and warmth.a thank you to learn is with a stress tester or in basic terms watch the coolant interior the radiator while the engine remains cool and notice if stress is development.

Go to your local shop and have the system pressure tested. The pressure test will show whether you have a bad hose, radiator, heater core,or worst case scenario,a blown head gasket. Also they will test the rad.cap.A bad cap can also cause the engine to over heat.

Could be head gasket but it also could be a bad intake Manifold tho 3.4 v6 has a nasty habit of melting the plastic intake and cusing an overheating problem

its a head gasket - GM N bodies are famous for it. There used to be a silent warranty on them - check with a dealer and see.
