I lost all of date because of mehanical damage to hardware on my
pc. I'm starting pc with boot diskette from drive A: . Then I'm typing
format c: but answer is : " incorrect DOS version"
I have MS DOS 6.22 ( 4 floppy )

what operating system are you hoping to install
if its win 98 or win me i can e-mail you the files to put on a floppy so you can boot to install one of the above os(S)

It sounds like the format command is a different version than your boot disk. If you have access to the version command you can try and trick it.

Have you created a partition on the drive using fdisk yet?

since you have mechanical damage, then you are prolly going to need to repalce the harddrive. what boot diskette is this? is it 98?

1.Atach hard disc to primary (first) IDE.
2.Atach CD drive to secondary IDE.
3.Make sure the BIOS is configured right.
