It means that you are near a router that is transmitting a wireless signal. A normal wireless signal has a range of about 150 feet. If you are able to connect to that signal, you will have access to any computers on that network. If the network is hooked to the Internet, you will access to the Internet.
Be aware that connecting to someones network like that without permission is a felony. You can be fined or imprisoned for doing it. Using their connection to access the Internet can also get you sued by their ISP. (Before I get nasty replies, I am just stating the current laws - not saying I agree). So you may want to think carefully before trying to hook on to someone else's network.
And if you do, you give them full access to YOUR computer should they want to steal your private information, delete your files, infect you with a virus, etc.

Hi evilo,
Wireless networks make it possible for you to connect to the internet from a laptop without having to be "plugged in" by the usual networking cables (which tangle easily). These networks have a very limited range (usually less than 200 feet).
Windows looks for these networks and lets you know when one is available for you to connect and use. Several places (such as Starbucks) offer wireless internet.
One word of caution: be careful! If the wireless network is your own, secure it properly using WPA or WEP encryption. If the network is someone else's (such as Starbucks) use it with caution. It's possible for others to listen in and steal your data. I wouldn't give out my credit card on such networks unless it's encrypted. If you don't know, it's better to be safe than sorry.

It means that your computer has picked up a signal from a wireless network transmitter. You should be careful if you are thinking of accessing this network free of charge. I have heard of people being sued for accessing a wireless network without permission, even though access to that network was not restricted or encrypted!

It means that you are in range of someone who has a wireless network setup and you have a Wifi connection on your computer. If your neighbor is silly enough not to use an encription key you can probably log onto it and use it for free. If you are into stealing bandwith from a neighbor. If it's encripted then you can't unless you figure out your neighbors encription key. Either way I would just ignore it.

The community key's saved on the router itself. you want to have the router's ip address and admin password. This varies through producer. once logged into the router, there should be some form of instantaneous protection web page. back, examine your router producer's documentation for precise steps.

your computer detected one. it doesn't mean you can connect to it, but you can try. if it is unsecured as in a wi fi hotspot, then you can connect. if it is secured, you need a password. Mine is 007.
good luck.
