Bloating isn't caused by your uterus, it's caused by water retention. The uterus doesn't bloat during your period.

The uterus is pretty small when you are not pregnant.

The bloating that happens during a period is caused by other factors. The best way to avoid it is to make sure that you eat healthy food, drink lots of water, and most of all do some exercises and stretches during that time of the month.

During the time before your period, the lining of your uterus is filling with blood, preparing for pregnancy. When you are not pregnant, the lining 'sloughs off',, or dissolves, and that is what causes you to bleed. This is blood that has been there a while, so you are not actively "bleeding". Your uterus will be swollen right before your period, but will return to normal size after.

you're shedding your uterine lining when you menstrate so it should be losing mass. you feel bloated because you're retaining a lot of water and that's the area it tends to sit for you. Take a diuretic, you can get it at CVS/Rite Aid or something...people use it as a weightloss pill too, but it's great for when you're bloated
