Robert E. Lee was the best! Here's why:

He was a God fearing man. He resigned from the US army to fight for his home state. He fought hard and long for his home state. He was thinking of his men when he decided to surrender. He knew that war is not a glorious thing. He was always the general (unlike Grant, Burnsides, etc. for the North)

Bottom Line: He fought for what he believed in (unlike trying to conquer the known world) and did so honorably.

Alexander the Great conquered the known world during his time. I would go with him....but it might be hard to find information on him, so I would go with Julius Caesar then Napoleon. Or maybe you can do a short bio on each if you are allowed to. That should make it more interesting....

Good luck!

Alexander the Great. He conquered much of the known world of his time before he was thirty.
