If you're talking about a dialup modem, the kind that you connect to a phone line and connect to the Internet at 53 bkps or less, virtually all laptop computers have this built-in these days. So the answer to your question is "internal."

They come with an "Internal" PCI modem. There are only two types of modems, internal and external, by PC card i guess you mean the PCI port, where the modem connects. And audio is another thing altogether. So it's an "Internal PCI" modem.

Most nowaday come with a wireless reciever built in, the only modem laptops come with in an internal dial -up modem.
