The most important thing in any nation is its currency/legal tender.

Therefore a special non-partisan committee of highly credible and knowledgeable individuals do nothing else, but, make certain our currency is stable.

And, as of date, so far, so good.

The chairman of the Fed is the chairman of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors. Their responsibilities are to run the Federal reserve system which includes check clearing, bank audits, monetary policy, and other arcane duties.

Yes, Ben is still chairman. They serve about 14 years.
