Your courage is awesome, keep strong.. you just tell yourself, when you THINK you need a ciggarette, that you are strong and can go without them forever! you are strong, and can live without them.. Try going online and look at pics of what cigs can do to you, and then when you start thinking you need one; think of those pics you saw, and you will not want another one.. I know the struggle.
I probably can't tell you anything new. But I may as well remind you that distraction is the best way not to think about it. Maybe it's going to the movies where you are not allowed to smoke and no one else is. Maybe a short drive, walk in the park.
Whatever you do, don't make the distraction something you used to ALWAYS do with a smoke. That will just trigger the urge.
If you do give in, don't kick youself in the butt. Flush the rest of the pack away and start counting the days again.

Drink a full glass of water each time you have a craving. If that doesn't work, keep nicotine gum handy. nip off a corner, and park it between your cheek and gum. it will work wonders.
Something quitter shoudl know but rarely do:
Frequently, you give up 1-2 weeks into the process. Cravings increase, you feel weak, and you give up.
There is a physiological reason for the increased craving. After a week/ 10 days, your liver looks around and says "Huh! i haven't had to process any fresh nicotine for awhile now!" It then proceeds to dump it's stored backlog of nicotine.
So - without actually taking IN nicotine - you body gets a few doses - which triggers the cravings.
You are NOT being weak. If you know that phenomenon happens, it can help you understand it, and not feel like it's a personal failure that you're suddenly doing worse.

Wow, congratulations you. 3 days of not smoking, how good do you feel??
You have already saved £15. another 3 days and you would have saved £30.................. Do I need to carry on the math??

My advice to you is to eat gum, or clean your teeth regulary every time you fancy lighting up. If the urge gets too much, take a long walk. Leave filling up your car for another hour and use your walking time to realise how not out of breath you have become! Enjoy the weather, appreciate the clean air you are now inhaling and then ask yourself again, do you really want to waste £5 on something that will make you cough and splutter again??
I really wish I had your stamina and I wish you all the best of luck continuing to quit. It aint easy but the benefits are so much it is well worth the cold turkey........... which won't last for ever.

I recommend changing your routine. Go to a different gas station than your normal one, or better yet have somebody else take your car out for gas. Don't go to places where you used to smoke for a while. All of them are part of a stimulus-response habit cycle that you need to break. After you have a couple of weeks of smoke free life under your belt, then you will have that to draw on for strength. You will know you've made it through the worst part, the strongest cravings will be gone. You can say to yourself, "I don't want to go through that withdrawl again!" and "I don't want all that suffering I did last week to be for nothing." You will have an investment in not smoking and can return to some of the same routines and places where you used to smoke.
I also found it helpful to tell absolutely everyone I knew that I was quitting smoking. That way, I'd be a bit shamed and embarassed to smoke in front of them. And, after one or two weeks, I started spending the money I had saved on treats and small luxuries.

Prepare yourself. It probably won't end well, and you will most likely lose someone you care about at way to young an age. Also, stay the hell out of that house as much as possible, because guess what? When you're in there, you're a smoker, and you smoke just as much as her. Save yourself, and just try to do life and health better than she has. It sucks, but it's reality. I wish you the best. Take care!!

First of all EWP, your on the right track. You want to quit. I, on the other hand, did not want to. My wife badgered me to go to this group hypnosis deal, an hours drive away. It was two Hours and cost fourty-five bucks. I heard that you could smoke during the session, then at the end of the session, you toss your smokes away. I took half a pack for the session and threw a full pack in the glove compartment for the ride back home. One of the best things I ever did. Have'nt smoked for twenty years. Give it a try. Bring no money and no credit cards with you. Have somebody else get gasoline and stuff for you.
Always carry a bottle of water and drink that instead of smoking.
Get some nicotine patches. Chew gum (echh, but better than smoking).
Only hang around people who don't smoke.

We are going through the same thing. I stopped August 3d, and have had some relapses. Several of us are quitting together, because a friend of ours was just diagnosed with Leukemia, and we are a mutual support group.
We must be careful to avoid saboteurs for the time being, until we have completely won the battle.

Think of something else empty your mind completely then if you are doing it for someone then think of them or get another habit like taking a run to the park walking your dog reading a book anything healthier than that i give the props for leaving it because all you were doing was smoking your life away.

Imagine your wife, girlfriend ect. was the cashier at the counter. And think about what buying a pack means for the time you spend with her.
It's also a proven fact that one cigarette takes 7 minutes off of your life.
