You haven't been on this site very long obviously. You are going to get some bad answers on here. There are people here who have "issues" and you just have to weed through the bad stuff. Don't let it get to you -- it happens to everyone. You learn to take a lot of what is said with a grain of salt. Some people get really radical about certain things and some are showing their ignorance and looking for shock value. Don't let it get you down though because there ARE A LOT OF GOOD PEOPLE HERE TOO. Just remember that.

I have noticed a lot of sarcasm also and even researched it a bit.
It would seem that some people use that method as humor. Some do not like to take anything seriously. Some are impatient and intolerant of other people's ability or inability to articulate. If a question is posed that strikes a nerve, one might react with sarcasm.
However, i find that the people who use it on a regular basis likely do have empathy. They are just apathetic. Not really searching for any answer to start with and not really caring about asking a question that would promote thinking or feeling. I can not understand why anyone would even want to be on here if they are not empathetic.

It all depends on the person. Sometimes they are revealing their true selves, sometimes they are afraid to show their real emotions..eh..sarcasm will always exist, so the sooner we all learn to deal with it, the better.

What's the deal with all the sarcasm?
Are people too afraid to reveal their true selves, or are they revealing their true selves? It's sad, really. What do all of you think?

Some people find it funny and amusing. People are here for different reasons and since this isn't a private club you will have to accept that fact or move on to another forum.
Also, people often pose sarcastic questions on purpose to get funny and sarcastic remarks.
Finally, lizzie - answerer on next page proved she knows nothing about British humor and should be considered as best answer.

Yes. I love the fact that I can be a real bad @$$ behind this computer and talk as much crap as I can because I know that nobody is going find me. I admit it- in real life I am such a wuss. I would crap in my pants if I got a knock on the door from someone I talked trash to online. People ask me all the time if I wanna fight and I tell them no because I am a total pu$$y.

People just take advantage of the fact that they can do things here that they would never do in real life, and even get away with them. Living vicariously appeals to some people, though those that really needed help in the past usually understand what you need, and those are the ones that provide real help.

Sarcasm is a form of humor here in the US. Exaggeration in sarcastic remarkers makes the deliverer appear "smarter" than the object of their remarks. It is really a rather rude, crude style of communication. You do not find this in other countries, save (except) England.
