tell them a really scary story about someone who didn't see reason and died. try telling them about the boy who cried wolf or the story in the news about someone who took drugs and ended up crushed by a car. tell the person to imagine they were in the story and what would happen if they kept on being unreasonable.

OK, can I assume you're familar with the "Parent, Adult, Child" way of thinking? Essentially we have 3 voices in our head- the Parent that tells us to "go to work, be neat, straighten up your back, pay your bills!"- this is very authortain. Then you've got the "Adult"- this is the person in your voice in your head thats more reasoanble "OK, I need to get my rear in gear to go to work, yeah, better pay this bill, I have to buy roses for the wife, and play with the kids" and then you've got the "Child"- its easy to identify for all the child says is "I or Me, me me!!"
The key, is to figure out which part of the personality you're communicating with. Best communication takes place when its "adult to adult". Worst communication is between "parent" and "child"- neither wants to hear what the other is saying.
Now, knowing the above,,,,this question seems to be from your "Parent" voice,,,and this other person, is it from their "child"?
Theres some people out there- not many, but they do exist- where they simply don't have an "adult" voice and its most difficult to interact with this person.
So, knowing this,,,,why do you WANT them to see reason? Is it a personal goal? A quest to be right? What are YOUR motovations to persuade or sway this person to think that you are right?
Im just curious on your motovation

Not sure it's possible to "make" anyone see reason. All we can do is try to be reasonable ourselves. We have no control over anybody else. Sometimes, it's difficult and/or impossible to admit that, but it's the truth.

that's like asking every person you meet to be just like you...what fun is that? and what makes you reasonable when you think someone is unreasonable? everybody is entitled to his/her own opinion...if you don't like it, don't let it bother you.

There is no person in the world that is reasonable. You are not reasonable either! You can't see it because people just can't see themselves through their own eyes.

You can't. Tune them out and let them think whatever they want, they're going to anyway.
