i'm currently in this "science research and design" class and i'm thinking of doing some research in genetics but i don't know exactly what to do. any ideas would be helpful along with some resources. thanks.

yeah anything working with fruit flies. Thats what I did my research project on. You can also research family trees, or pedigrees if they are available to find frequencies of certain genetic traits. If the equipment is available in your school, you could try to clone a gene. (you would need PCR, electrophoresis equipment and you would need ways to get primers and proteins that you need) Just some ideas...
