it all depends on the injury and how it happend. It would have to be something that was due to faulty equipment or somthing. You would need a strong case against them.

Two things, hope they help.

1) You don't even have to hurt yourself, if you are stuck on an elevator, you can sue for the time you lost, it's so much money you can get for every minute stranded on an elevator depending on where you reside. This is what happened to my uncle, and he resides in Chicago and this happened well over 5 years ago, maybe 10, so I don't know if the law changed or not, also I don't know if you were stranded and injured or just injured. If you injured yourself, you would have to show negligence on behalf of the elevator company.

2) Play devil's advocate, use a phone book or something, strike a conversation with someone involved with or owns an elevator company; "Wow, I always wanted to own my own elevator company, but I would be scared to get sued if someone where to injure themselves, what would you do?" or something along the lines of that...

Not if you injure yourself.

If you are injured by some act or omission by the people charged with maintenance and safety of the elevator, you may have a claim for all or part of your injuries. Usually that is the building owner. Notify them.

It depends upon whether you injured yourself with common everyday use of the elevator, or if you did something in or on to cause the accidentally injury. It depends upon whose fault it was: yours or the maker of the elevator.

If there is something wrong on the elevator, you can sue. If you hurt yourself on accident, you can't sue.
