It all began when parents, teachers were stopped from belting unruly kids in the 80's. They turned into yobbos knowing nothing was going to happen to them if they played up. They are now the parents that let the kids do as they please. Whenever you see 30 to 40 hooded little pri..s outside the local shop at midnight you know there are 30 to 40 bigger pri..s who know no better sitting at home or down the pub getting pissed and smoking joints. Why, where do you think they came from?

No that isn't cool. Unfortunately there is a large binge drinking culture in England which I think contributes to the fact many people are getting into fights. Alcohol is to blame for it. I think people would think twice about beating the crap out of someone if they were sober.
I myself am not a big drinker but I see fights breaking out quite frequently because I am unfortunate enough to live in a lively town that attracts a load of tourists that come just for the soul purpose of getting 'wasted'.
I can think of plenty of other things I would rather spend my money on other than alcohol.

Violent behaviour is nothing new, it isn't cool, well not in Wales, it's pretty stupid. Lots of young people hang around shops where I live and they look intimidating, but most of them are OK, a bit rough but they are always OK to me. I blame absent parents far more than single parents and I think values have changed. Far too many young people have no ambition, no where to go and nothing to do. Where I live all the green spaces have been sold by the council to ousing associations, there is very little for young people to do other than hang around the streets. I feel sorry for a lot of them as they have no motivation and little encouragement.

The youth of today dont have any respect for there elders. In my day we were lucky to get a chase round the table and a rub down with a wet sporting life. More Bobbies should clip them round the ear. Thats what i say. String em up.

Before i attempted to answer this question, i composed my thoughts its such a difficult question to answer honestly, we could lay the blame on the parents of thes thugs, that would be only part of the complex answer, lack of education, again only a part of the answer, law enforcement, the courts ,they reflect the society we live in,the punishment does not for the most part fit the crime, can we blame goverment, well we voted them in they do not have the answer, from short sharp shocks to borstal to boot camps, to taking them canooing I f we are being honest the answer lies with us, all of us the workaholics, the drunks, the thieves the good the bad and sadly the majoriy who are totaly indifferent, because we all believe we are the perfect parent.
its not our child causing mayhem down the local shops, little johnnys at his best friends playing on the computer, he is out of site out of mind,he has carte blanche he has his freedom.which is a backlash against the years when your parents and thier parents kept them indoors because it was too dangerous to go outside ,bombs were dropping the rigidity of victorian england was counter balanced with the war years, technology has moved fast we have not adapted as a society to yet ,we will have knee jerk reaction and come up with yet another scheme to control the the youth
instead of sitting them down in front of the telly or letting them play on violent games, i can hear them now screaming its only the same as the cowboys and indians or the war games you played, well no they are not we soicialised we learned tolerance, friendship, we played at them games not virtually with an ak47 spewing death we did not know that the winchester rifle we fashioned from a cricket bat would blow the head off. Indians all fell forward, cowboys all staggered about with an arrow sticking out of the jumper your mother knitted from the pile of old jumpers she got at the jumble sale, ITS MY FAULT YOUR FAULT and no one else. is to blame you, put an ineffective goverment in, you bought the playstation, you allowed little johnny to sit in his room watching films that would anethetise a marine, you are society your part may be small but every bit as important as mine. regards LF

It makes me feel that it's not worth going out. Gangs, voilence. If the laws were harsher it would occur less often. I reckon they should give at least an eight year jail sentence for glassing somebody, perhaps then people would think twice.

It's nothing new. There have always been people like this, and always will be. Sadly, just now it seems to be in fashion, but I'm sure it'll change again soon, and probably go back to being cool to be a hippie.

Boundary's.
The unwritten social rules that we live by don't seem to be being passed on these days.
I think it's natural that in youth that we will push any rules to the limit.
But when there seems to be no limit, or even rules for that matter............. then what?

Let's analyze, shall we? Guns are illegal in England whereas they are legal in America.
So is worse to cut someone with a bottle, or to shoot them and probably kill them with a gun?
You tell me.
